Energy Audit

The energy audit is a test performed in your house to:

  • test the Combustion Appliances Zone (CAZ) for safety according to the Building Performance Institute BPI® standard

  • quantify the insulation level in the attic and walls

  • identify strategies to improve comfort and energy efficiency

  • develop recommendations and estimate their return on investment

The test is performed with a blower door, a gas combustion analyzer and an infrared camera.

The infrared camera is paramount to locate the weak spots in the thermal envelope that need weatherization, air sealing, or additional insulation.

Some utility companies offer up to $200 rebates for energy audits and even more for energy upgrades, call (719) 250-5215 or email Enrico for more information.

Energy Audit Report

The energy audit report contains information about the efficiency of your appliances and the condition of the thermal envelope of your home.

The report contains recommendations specific to your home to improve comfort and decrease energy usage.

When coupled with a home maintenance inspection, you'll have two reports, one pertaining to the overall condition of your home and one more specific about the energy audit.

Your home is a system, where all the components are affected by their mutual interaction.

The report will guide you through this complex system to find the root cause of your discomfort problems.

Check out the sample report to know what to expect.

Blower Door

A blower door is a big fan mounted at one of the exterior door of your home.

It is used to depressurize the house, thus enhancing the areas of air infiltration and low insulation level.

With the blower door it is possible to quantify how leaky is your home, how big the holes in the thermal envelope of your home and find the areas of leakage, using an infrared camera.

A blower door test is mandatory for all new construction in cities that abide by the 2015 IECC (international energy conservation code).

We are qualified to perform blower door test for new residential construction in Pueblo (Pueblo Regional Building Department) and in Colorado Springs (Pikes Peak Regional Building Department).
